Organizing Boxes

Service Projects

In keeping with Step 12, every retreat we organize a service project. Wherever we go we arrange with locals in advance to find a meaningful service project to do as a group. In between retreats, we also do service projects to keep our connections strong and serve one another and our community. See below for a sampling of service projects we have done in the past. Additionally, during retreat, everyone selects a service role to give service to the group and help with organizing some part of the retreat. Click the link below to view the service roles.

Moving Mountains

We helped a recovery brother move when he found himself short on time and labor. Ten recovery brothers gathered around and knocked this move out in less than 5 hours (lunch included)!

Helping a Brother with Landscaping

One of our brothers was recently incarcerated. His spouse was in need of some landscaping changes to help minimize the long term amount of yardwork. Ten brothers stepped up and stepped in, removing sod, laying down weed barrier and rock to help make life a littler easier for this family.

Building a Firepit

In Hanksville the owners of the Airbnb had all the materials for a firepit just sitting in their backyard. We asked if we could build them a firepit while we were in town and they were so grateful!

Deck Demo & Shoreline Clean up

In this fun project, a deck had been demolished the previous day. Our job was to do the construction clean up. We hauled and stacked thousands of lbs of wood decking, and cleaned up a nearby lake shoreline while we were at it.

Animal Shelter Love

In a remote town, we volunteered at their town's animal shelter, beautifying the dog park area, moving indoor cat houses, and reorganizing storage sheds contents.

Cemetery Clean Up

In Eureka, the former Mayor bemoaned the state of their cemetery. In what was a booming mining town in the 19th century is now having a hard time keeping up their cemetery. Our group trimmed trees, cleared debris, and made the cemetery more welcoming.

Re-stained a Historical Building

We carefully taped the stained glass windows and re-stained a historical building near Torrey Utah. We also moved a fence line and cleaned the weeds on the property as well.
